Zoot and Outlook E-mail
Top  Previous  Next

A favorite use of Zoot is to manage Outlook e-mail. Typically this involves synchronizing the Outlook Inbox with Zoot's Mail database. Once the e-mail messages from your Outlook Inbox are transferred over to your Mail database, you can use Zoot's sophisticated tools to process the messages efficiently.

To reply to an e-mail message from Zoot, click the underlined hyperlink located just above the Item Editor (left side) and Zoot will display a pop-up menu of e-mail related commands. When you reply to an e-mail message from Zoot, a standard Outlook e-mail message is created. Zoot opens the Outlook e-mail message editor so that you can compose your e-mail reply. Zoot quotes the original e-mail in the reply and prefaces each line of the message with the standard > character for the sake of clarity.

Notes:

·To quote just a segment of the original message instead of the entire message, highlight the desired segment (whether a sentence, a paragraph, or whatever) in Zoot's Item Editor before creating the reply and Zoot will quote only the selected text in the reply message.

·You can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+R to reply to a message (or Ctrl+Shift+R to reply to all).

·Zoot creates a shortcut to the e-mail reply in the original message for your convenience.

·When you reply to a message in Zoot, the value of the <Status> field of the original message is changed to Reply Sent.

·Choose Tools | Options and click the Outlook tab to review the mail related options available. See also the Web/Mail tab.
