The Zooter also lets you get information out of Zoot in various ways. Using the Zooter | Send To command you can send text from a Zoot item to another application, send a group of items to another application, or send the entire contents of a database to another application. You can also access Zoot items while working in another application using the Find or Insert commands.

Find
The Zooter | Find command lets you locate and open an item in any Zoot database without having to switch from the current application back to Zoot. To use the Find command, click the Zooter and choose Find from the pop-up menu. Zoot displays a list of databases from which to choose. Select the database that contains the item you wish to open and Zoot will display the Find Dialog. Type a few words to locate the item you seek. When the matching item appears, press the Enter key or double-click the item to open it. You can select multiple items to open also.

Tip: Using the Zooter | Find command to locate a Web Link will launch the Web site associated with it.

Insert
The Zooter | Insert command works just like the Find command, except instead of opening an item, the Insert command inserts the text of an item into the active document. This is a great way to insert frequently used sentences or paragraphs into your word processing document.

To use the Insert command, place the input cursor exactly where you want it in your word processing document, then click the Zooter and choose Insert from the pop-up menu. Zoot displays a list of databases from which to choose. Select the database that contains the item you wish to insert and Zoot will display the Insert Dialog. Type a few words to locate the item you seek. When the matching item appears, press the Enter key or double-click on the item and it will be inserted into the active document.

Tip: Use Alt+Z to access the Zooter if you don't want to use the mouse when using the Find or Insert commands.

Send To
You can send information from one application to another using the Zooter | Send To command. You can use the SendTo command to:

·Transfer data between Zoot and another application
·Transfer data between two applications other than Zoot

To use the SendTo command, select some text in the active application, then click the Zooter and choose Send To | <Application> (where <Application> is the name of the destination application). Zoot will immediately activate the selected application. Simply click your mouse where you want the text inserted.

Notes:

·If no text appears when you click, hold down the Ctrl key and click again. This registers the application as a Zooter Object. Once you've registered an application as a Zooter Object, you won't have to hold down the Ctrl key again.

·You can send multiple Zoot items to another application using the Send To command. First select the items you wish to send, then click the Zooter and choose Send To from the pop-up menu. Zoot displays an Options Dialog so you can choose how you want the selected items to be formatted.

·You can use the Send To command to send information to Microsoft Outlook. You can send either highlighted text from the active application or you can send selected Zoot items. If you send highlighted text, Zoot creates a new Outlook item along with the highlighted text, then opens the new Outlook item for your inspection. If you send selected Zoot items, Zoot transfers the items from Zoot to Outlook, but does not open the new Outlook items. To send information to Outlook using the Zooter, select the information, then click the Zooter and choose SendTo | Outlook | <Type> (where <Type> is the type of Outlook item you want created).

·To quickly send the contents of the active document to the application you were last using, click on the Zooter icon with the third mouse button (press the mousewheel if your mouse has one).
