When you click on a folder in the Folder Tree, any items in that folder are displayed in the Item Grid. The Item Grid lets you view and edit database fields in columns. To edit the data in a column, simply click on the column and Zoot will enter in-place editing mode. To edit a column value using only the keyboard, press F2 and then press the Tab key repeatedly until you arrive at the column you wish to edit.
To change the columns currently displayed in the Item Grid, click the Smart button and choose Columns from the pop-up menu. The Smart button menu also lets you customize other elements of the Item Grid. You can set sorting preferences, change the way data in columns is formatted, whether or not grid lines are displayed, etc. When you customize the Item Grid, you are creating a customized view. A view is simply a set of customization choices. Once you have customized a view, the view can be applied to other folders in your database, so that you do not have to repeat the customization process for each folder.
