When setting a reminder, you can type a reminder date directly into the Reminder Date edit box, or you can click the small [] button to the right of the edit box to view a pop-up menu of predefined intervals. The pop-up menu also lets you select a date/time via a Calendar Dialog. If you want to specify multiple reminders for an item (e.g., a reminder that will go off 7 Days, 2 Days and 5 Hours before the items Start Date), choose Multiple from the pop-up menu.
When a Reminder Pops Up
When a reminder pops up, you have a number of choices in dealing with it:

Snooze
·
Open
·
Mark Complete
·
Iconize
Dismiss
Click the Dismiss button to clear the reminder and close the Reminder Dialog. You will not be reminded again.
Snooze
Enter a new reminder date/time, then click the Snooze button to reactivate the reminder and close the Reminder Dialog.
Open
Click the Open button to reactivate the reminder and open the reminder item in a detached Item Editor window.
Mark Complete
Check the Mark Complete checkbox to clear the reminder, mark the reminder item complete and close the Reminder Dialog.
Iconize
You can iconize the Reminder Dialog to get it out of the way temporarily, however, you will not be able to exit Zoot without dealing with any open reminders. If you attempt to exit Zoot while reminders are open, Zoot will abort the exit and bring all open reminders to the forefront so that you can deal with them in short order.
Default Settings for Reminders
At the bottom of the Reminder Dialog you will find two checkboxes that control the way reminders behave by default. These default settings are stored separately for each of the Zoot item types (Task, Appointment, Contact, etc.).

When a reminder pops up, Zoot sets a new default reminder so that you can immediately click the Snooze button. The default setting is 5 Min. If you click the Snooze button, the reminder will pop up again in 5 minutes. You can change this default setting. Enter your preferred setting (2 Hours, for instance), then check this checkbox and click OK to close the Reminder Dialog.
Set this Reminder Automatically
Check this box and Zoot will automatically set a reminder whenever you create an item of the current type. For instance, if you want a reminder set every time you create a Task item, check this box and then click OK to close the Reminder Dialog.
