When you close a database, Zoot automatically saves the database to file. If you exit Zoot, all open databases will be saved to file automatically. To save all open databases to file without exiting Zoot, simply click the Save button on the toolbar (or press Ctrl+S).
Any new folders or items you create in Zoot are saved immediately. Any editing changes you make in the Item Editor are saved as soon as you move the input focus away from the Item Editor. If there is a power outage or you experience a system crash, Zoot will automatically recover any unsaved data.
The only data you could lose in the event of a power outage or system crash is the data you are presently typing into the Item Editor. This data is not saved until you move the input focus away from the Item Editor or when you click the Save button on the toolbar. To force a save of the data in the Item Editor without saving all open databases to file, move the input focus away from the Item Editor by clicking on the Item Grid. To do this using only the keyboard, press the Ctrl+UpArrow key, then press the Ctrl+DownArrow key to return the input focus to the Item Editor.
