Queries

To find information in Zoot you run a query. A query can be a simple word or phrase search, or it can be a more complex query involving multiple item properties. You can run a query of just the active database or you can run a query across multiple databases.

To run a simple word or phrase query of the active database, click the Query menu and choose Quick Query (or press Ctrl+Q), then enter a word or phrase. As you type Zoot immediately begins displaying matching items.

As Zoot displays your search results you can:

·Press the Enter key at any time to have the matching items displayed in a folder.
·Double-click on an individual item to view just that item.
·Select several items, right-click and choose Save from the pop-up menu to save the selected items to a new or existing folder.

Advanced Query
To run a more complex query, choose Query | Advanced Query from Zoot's main menu. Zoot displays the Advanced Query Dialog. Here you define your query by selecting the fields you wish to query along with the values you seek.

Global Query
To search across multiple databases, choose Query | Global Query from the main menu and Zoot will display the Global Query Dialog. You define your query as described above, however, this dialog also lets you specify the databases you want to query.

Boolean Operators
Your queries can include Boolean operators (AND, OR, NEAR, NOT). Search help for Boolean for information on syntax.
