To make a folder smart you create rules and actions in the folder. Rules tell a folder which items to automatically collect and actions tell a folder what to do with these items.
Create a Rule
To create a rule in a folder, click on the folder in the Folder Tree, then click the Smart button and choose Rules from the pop-up menu. To learn more about rules, refer to the section on rules in this help file.
Create an Action
To create an action in a folder, click on the folder in the Folder Tree, then click the Smart button and choose Actions from the pop-up menu. To learn more about actions, refer to the section on actions in this help file.
Create a View
Another way to make a folder smarter is to create a customized view for the folder. When you create a customized view for a folder you tell the folder how you want items to be displayed in the Item Grid, i.e., which columns you want to appear, how you want the items to be sorted and how properties are to be displayed in columns. To create a view for a folder, click on the folder in the Folder Tree, then click the Smart button and choose View | New View from the pop-up menu.
