Import a File

Zoot can import the text portion of any file and has dedicated import handlers for Word Document (DOC), Web Page (HTML), Rich Text (RTF), Adobe (PDF), Power Point (PPT), Excel (XLS) and Web Archive (MHT) files.

To import a file, use one of the following methods:

Import a file using Windows Explorer

·

Import a file using the Windows clipboard

·

Import a file directly from the Zoot Desktop

To import a file using Windows Explorer, follow these steps:

1. In Windows Explorer, highlight the file or group of files you wish to import, then do one of the following:

Right-click on the file(s) and choose Zoot It from the pop-up menu.

Drag the highlighted files and drop them onto the Zoot Desktop (main application window).

Zoot opens the File Wizard and guides you through the remaining steps.


To import a file using the Windows clipboard, follow these steps:

1. Using Windows Explorer or any other compatible file manager, highlight the files you wish to import, then right click on them and choose Copy from the pop-up menu.

2. Return to the Zoot Desktop and select a database and folder for the file import, then right-click on the Item Grid and choose Paste | File Import from the pop-up menu.

Zoot immediately imports the file(s) and refreshes the Item Grid.


To import a file directly from the Zoot Desktop, follow these steps:

1. From the main menu choose File | Import | File Wizard.

2. Zoot opens a dialog so that you can select the file(s) you wish to import, then launches the File Wizard to guide you through the remaining steps.
