How to Change the Location of Your Data

By default, Zoot stores your database files in folders as follows:

Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\My Documents\Zoot Files\Database
C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\My Documents\Zoot Files\Storage

Windows Vista:
C:\Users\<UserName>\Documents\Zoot Files\Database
C:\Users\<UserName>\Documents\Zoot Files\Storage


If you want to store your Zoot data elsewhere (for backup purposes, for instance), follow these steps:

1. From the main menu, choose Tools | Options and click the Startup Tab.

2. Where it says Store my data in folders under, click the small [-] button and choose the folder you prefer for data storage.

Once you've chosen a new location for your data, Zoot will exit automatically so that you can move your data from the old location to the new location as follows:

1. Open Windows Explorer and move the following folders and their subfolders to the new location:

...\Zoot Files\Database

...\Zoot Files\Storage

2. Run Zoot. To confirm the new location of your data, click the Databases button on the toolbar to open Database Manager. In the Folder Tree you should see both the Database and Storage folders in their new location.
