How to Create a Task in the Tasks database
Top  Previous  Next

If you intend to create more than one Task item, it's probably quicker to do it directly in the Tasks database. Click Tasks on the Desktop Database Bar to open the Tasks database. All of the Desktop Databases have a special folder for entering new items. In the Tasks database, this folder is called New Tasks and is located near the top of the Folder Tree. This is a good folder in which to create new Task items for a couple of reasons:

·It makes use of the database's Default View, which will include the most frequently used columns for quick data entry.

·It is located at the top of the Folder Tree for quick access to new items.

·It is used for new items created when you are not working directly in the database, for instance, when you are working in another application and you create a new item using the Zooter | New command.

To create a Task item directly in the Tasks database, follow these steps:

1. In the Folder Tree, click on the New Tasks folder to open it.

2. Click once on the Item Grid to make sure input is focused there. Do one of the following:

·Right-click the Item Grid and choose New from the pop-up menu.
·Press the Insert key.

3. Zoot creates a new item and enters in-place editing mode. Type in a subject for the new Task item, then press the Tab key to move from one column to the next, filling in fields as you move along. Press the Enter key to complete the process.

At this point Zoot places the input focus on the Item Editor so that you can begin typing in the document area.

Notes:

·If you prefer to work with a detached Item Editor window, click the New button on the toolbar.
