How to Create a Contact Item
Top  Previous  Next

You create a Contact item to store information about an individual or company. When you create a new Contact item, Zoot makes use of an item template to provide you with fields in which to record name, address, phone number and other data about the contact.

If you intend to create more than one Contact item, you may find it quicker to create them directly in the Contact database, but here we'll use one of the single item methods.

To create a Contact item:

1. On the toolbar, click the DownArrow [v] located just to the right of the New button and choose Contact from the pop-up menu.

2. Zoot creates a new Contact item and opens it in a detached Item Editor window. Zoot enters in-place editing mode so that you can enter a name for the new Contact item.

Note: The default Contact item template will suggest a Lastname, Firstname format. If the contact is a company instead of an individual, just ignore the suggested format and type in the company name.

3. Once you have entered a name for the new Contact item, press the Enter key and Zoot will set the input focus to the Item Editor so that you can add additional information about the contact.

Notes:

·Press the Tab key repeatedly to move among the delimited fields in the Item Editor, filling in any values for the fields as needed. To move backwards press Shift+Tab instead.

·If you do not wish to use all of the fields available, simply delete the ones you do not want.

·You can modify the item template used when creating a Contact item, adding fields or removing fields as desired. Search the help file for Item Template for more information.

·The new Contact item is stored in the Contacts database. To view the item, click Contacts on the Desktop Database Bar, then click on the New Contacts folder.
