Customize a View

To customize a view first select the view you want to customize -- click the Smart button and choose View from the pop-up menu, then select the view you want to customize from the extended menu. To create a new view, choose New View from the menu.

Once you have selected the view you want to customize, click the Smart button on the toolbar and choose an appropriate command from the pop-up menu. All of the view related commands are discussed below.


Add Columns to a View
To view and edit a specific item property in the Item Grid you add a column to the view. This enables you to view just the item properties crucial to your current activities and to edit these item properties directly in the Item Grid.

To add a column to a view, follow these steps:

1. On the toolbar click the Smart button and choose Columns from the pop-up menu. Zoot displays the Columns Dialog.

2. In the window pane on the left side of the Columns Dialog, select the item property you want to add to your view as a column and then click the [>] button to add the item property to the list of columns in the window pane on the right side.

3. Repeat this process for each item property you want to add as a column. You can also remove columns by reversing the process (select the column you want to remove and click the [<] button).

When you're finished, click the OK button. Zoot immediately refreshes the Item Grid and displays your new column settings.


Change Sorting Options
To change the sort order of items in the Item Grid, follow these steps:

1. On the toolbar click the Smart button and choose Sorting from the pop-up menu. Zoot displays the Sorting Dialog.

2. Zoot lets you sort on four different sort keys. Select the properties you want to sort on from the drop-down list boxes. You do not have to use all four sort keys.

When you're finished click the OK button. Zoot immediately refreshes the Item Grid to display your new sort preferences.


Change Display Properties
To change various display properties of the active view, follow these steps:

1. On the toolbar click the Smart button and choose Display from the pop-up menu. Zoot opens the Display Properties Dialog.

2. Modify display properties as desired, then click the OK button. Zoot immediately refreshes the Item Grid.

Remove a Single Column
To quickly remove a single column from the active view, follow these steps:

1. On the column heading bar (where the names of columns are displayed) right click on the column you want to remove and Zoot displays a pop-up menu.

2. From the pop-up menu choose Remove Column.
