To customize various display characteristics, choose Tools | Customize from the main menu and Zoot will open the Customization Dialog. Elements of the customization Dialog are described below.

Set Color and Font
You can set the color and font used in the Folder Tree, Item Grid and Item Editor. If you do not set color values here, Zoot will use your default Windows color scheme. If you set font values here, the settings are global and will apply to all of your databases.

Note: For any given database you can override the global font setting in the Item Editor. Simply right-click the Item Editor and choose Font from the pop-up menu.

Other Color Settings
These color settings affect the Zoot Desktop and the detached Folder and Item Editor windows.

Color Palette: When you change the color of a folder or item in Zoot, you are presented with a palette of 12 colors to choose from. You can modify the colors in the color palette to suit your taste. Click the Color Palette button, then click on the color you wish to modify.

Hot Lights: When you pass your mouse over a button or hyperlink in Zoot, it changes to the Hot Light color provide a better target. To change the color used for Hot Lights, click the Hot Light button and select a color from the palette.

Wonder Bars: A silly name given to the toolbar and vertical/horizontal divider bars in Zoot. To change the color used for Wonder Bars, click the Wonder Bar button and select a color from the palette.

Use Color Bar in Item Grid: Check this box if you want colors in the Item Grid to be displayed as a solid bar. If you do not check this box, only the text portion of an item in the Item Grid will be colored.

Map Desktop Database Bar
Zoot needs to know where to store Desktop Database items. For instance, when you click the Zooter and choose New | Task, Zoot needs to know in which database to create the new Task item. When you first install Zoot, a separate Desktop Database is created for each of the primary item types (Task, Contact, Journal, etc.). At some point you may wish to map some or all of these item types to a database other than the one provided by default. For instance, you may want to store Contacts, Tasks and Appointment items in a single database instead of in three separate databases (search Help for Combine Desktop Databases for details).

To map items to a database other than the default Desktop Database Zoot provides, direct your attention to the Map Desktop Database section of the Customization Dialog. Here each of the Desktop Databases is listed along with the file name of the database currently in use. Simply double-click on the database you want to remap and Zoot will ask you to specify a new database.

For example, to change the database in which Tasks are stored, double-click the Tasks entry and select a database when prompted. To store Tasks, Contacts and Appointments all in one database, double-click each entry and select the same database for each.
