Create an Item

To create a new item, follow these steps:

1. First select the folder in which you want to create the new item by clicking on it in the Folder Tree.

2. Next do one of the following:

Right click on the Item Grid and choose New from the pop-up menu (or press the INS key).

On the toolbar click the New button. Zoot creates a new item and opens it in a detached Item Editor window.

Zoot immediately enters in-place editing mode so that you can name the new item. Type a name for the new item and then press the Enter key. For your convenience, Zoot sets the input focus to the Item Editor so that you can begin typing immediately.

Tip: If you create an item in a folder with a view that has multiple columns, you can edit the property values directly in the Item Grid. Simply set the input focus to the Item Grid, then press the TAB key repeatedly to move from column to column. Press the Enter key when you've finished.
