Create a Database

It's very easy to create a new database:

1. From the main menu choose File | New | Database. Zoot asks you to select a template for your new database. Your new database will be based on the template you choose. Double-click the template you want.  
 
2. Zoot asks you to provide a name for your new database. Type in a name and click OK or press Enter. Here you also have the option to create your database in a project other than the active project.  

Zoot immediately creates your new database and opens it. Your new database will be created in the file folder corresponding to the active project unless you chose otherwise. For instance, if the active project is called Startup, your database will be created in the Startup file folder. To see the location of your new database, click Databases on the toolbar to open Database Manager.


Notes:

·Your new database will be based on the template you choose and will inherit all of the folders, rules, actions, views and items from the template.  
 
·You can create your own database templates. First create a database and set it up the way you want it, then from the main menu choose File | Save | Save As Template.  
 
·All Zoot databases will include a number of blue system folders which cannot be deleted. These system folders (New Columns, Storage Bin, New Arrivals, Queries, System and Default View) provide a basic structure to your Folder Tree and play a role in the day to day operation of your databases.
