Assign Items to Categories

Categories are essentially keywords used to broadly categorize information in your databases. While folders can be used to group information within a database, categories provide a means for categorizing information across all of your databases.

The list of categories to which you can assign an item is the same for all databases, whereas the folders in one database are less likely to be the same as the folders in another database.


To assign an item to categories, follow these steps:

1. At the bottom of the Item Editor, click the Categories button. Zoot displays the Categories Dialog box.  
 
2. Click on each of the categories you want, then click the OK button or press Enter. To add a category to the master list of categories, click the Add button. To edit the master list of categories, click the Edit button.  


Notes:

·You can also type categories directly into the categories edit box, which runs along the bottom of the Item Editor window. In this case any new category entered will not be added to the master list.  
 
·You can display categories in a column in the Item Grid and edit them directly in the Item Grid.  
 
·When you synchronize with Microsoft Outlook, categories are included in the synchronization.
