Filters are an important component of customized views because they determine which items will be displayed in the Item Grid when you click on a folder. You can create an assortment of filters and apply them to your views as needed.

To apply a filter to a view, follow these steps:

1. Activate the view to which you want to apply a filter (click the Smart button and choose View from the pop-up menu, then select a view from the extended menu). The view you select becomes the active view.

2. On the toolbar click the Smart button, then do one of the following:

·From the pop-up menu choose Filter | <Filter Name>, where <Filter Name> is the name of an existing filter displayed in the extended menu.

·From the pop-up menu choose Filter | New Filter to create a new filter from scratch.

3. In either case, the filter you select will be applied to the active view and will remain attached to the active view until you remove the filter.

To remove a filter from a view, click the Smart button, and choose Filter from the pop-up menu, then clear the check mark next to the filter in the extended menu. You can temporarily disable a filter also; click the Smart button and choose Filter | Ignore Filter from the pop-up menu.
