To find information in Zoot you run a query. A query can be a simple word or phrase search, or it can be a more complex query including a variety of item properties. You can run a query on just the active database, a subset of databases, or all of your databases.
Zoot features the following query options:
Quick Query
To quickly search the active database, simply type a word or phrase into the Quick Query box located just above the Desktop Database bar (look for the [?] icon on the far left side). Zoot immediately searches the active database and displays any matching items as you type. Press the Enter key at any time and Zoot will create a folder containing all search results.
Quick Folder
Choose Query | Quick Folder from Zoot's main menu (or click the DownArrow [v] next to the Query button on the toolbar) to access a menu of useful predefined queries. Zoot immediately creates a folder to display the search results.
Advanced Query
Advanced Query lets you define your query by selecting database fields and the values you seek. The Advanced Query Dialog is very similar to the Rules Dialog, which makes sense, since a rule is essentially a saved query.
Global Query
To search multiple databases, choose Query | Global Query from Zoot's main menu. The Global Query Dialog opens. Select the databases you want to include in your search, the define your query by clicking the Query button.
