Catalog and Manage the Files on Your Disk Drive
When you import files or create links to files in Zoot, you can manipulate the imported or linked items like any other Zoot item. For example, you can add a due date, change the item color, add delimited fields or add notes to describe the contents of the file in long form. In this way you can use Zoot to catalog and manage the files on your disk drive.
File Imports
Zoot can import the text portion of any file and has dedicated import handlers for Word Document (DOC), Web Page (HTML), Rich Text (RTF), Adobe (PDF), Power Point (PPT), Excel (XLS) and Web Archive (MHT) files.
Delimited File Imports
Zoot creates items by splitting the file into chunks of text based on a delimiter you provide. This is a great way to convert those gigantic files full of email messages you've been accumulating.
File Links
Create links to files on your disk drive so they can be launched directly from a Zoot database.
Shortcuts to Files
Attach file shortcuts to individual Zoot items.
Insert a File Link into a Zoot Document
You can insert a link to a file in the document portion of any Zoot item. Simply click in the Item Document wherever you want the file link placed, then right-click and choose Insert | File from the pop-up menu.
